UFC 302 Results: Winners And Losers From Makhachev Vs. Poirier Card

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY - MAY 31: (L-R) Opponents Islam Makhachev of Russia and Dustin Poirier face off ..

The UFC is at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, for tonight's UFC 302 pay-per-view event. The main event features UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev defending his title against former interim champion Dustin Poirier. In the co-main event, former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland faces off against former title challenger Paulo Costa.

The UFC 302 main card streams live on ESPN+ PPV, with prelims available on ESPN2 and early prelims on ESPN+.

Dustin Poirier has previously attempted to secure the undisputed UFC lightweight title twice, but fell short against Charles Oliveira and Khabib Nurmagomedov, both times by submission. Islam Makhachev has successfully defended his UFC lightweight title twice, with both victories coming against former UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. UFC 302 marks Makhachev's first title defense against a "true" 155-pound contender.

Makhachev holds the record for the longest active winning streak in the UFC, with 13 consecutive victories. A win against Poirier would place Makhachev alongside Anderson Silva and Kamaru Usman as the only fighters to achieve 14 or more consecutive wins in UFC history. Poirier enters UFC 302 as the No. 4 ranked fighter in the UFC lightweight division.
