Arsenal revived their Premier League title aspirations by breaking their Old Trafford curse, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Manchester United on Sunday. This win propelled them back to the top of the table, setting the stage for a thrilling championship showdown in the final weekend.

Leandro Trossard found the net in the 20th minute, sealing Arsenal's second victory in 17 away encounters at United and edging them one point ahead at the summit.

However, Manchester City remains in control of their title destiny, with two matches still to play compared to Arsenal's one.

Nevertheless, Arsenal maintained the pressure on Pep Guardiola's squad as they head into a challenging clash with Tottenham on Tuesday.

"Our history here wasn't very promising, but we found a way to secure the win, which speaks volumes about the team's determination," remarked Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. "We aim to break barriers and present our fans with the chance to lift the Premier League trophy."

Arsenal will face Everton at home on the final day next Sunday, while City will host West Ham.

The loss further diminishes Manchester United's hopes of securing a European competition spot for next season.

Despite displaying more resilience than in their recent 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, Erik ten Hag's side has only won one of their last eight Premier League matches.

United currently sits in eighth place in the table, trailing both Newcastle and Chelsea by three points, with a crucial match against Newcastle scheduled for Wednesday.

In 2024, Arsenal has shown remarkable form, remaining contenders for their first league title in two decades. Under Arteta's guidance, they have won 15 and drawn one of their 17 league games since the beginning of the year.

However, Arsenal struggled to find their rhythm against an injury-depleted Manchester United side, as the anticipated onslaught failed to materialize amidst uncharacteristically stifling heat in the north-west of England.

The manner of their defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace has amplified the scrutiny on Manchester United manager Ten Hag.
