Alice Stewart, a CNN political commentator and seasoned political adviser who participated in multiple Republican presidential campaigns, has passed away at the age of 58.
Her body was discovered outdoors in a northern Virginia neighborhood early Saturday morning, according to CNN. Law enforcement officials informed the news outlet that they do not suspect foul play and believe a medical emergency was the cause.
"Alice was a very dear friend and colleague to all of us at CNN," said Mark Thompson, the network’s CEO, in an email to staff on Saturday. "A political veteran and an Emmy Award-winning journalist, she brought an incomparable spark to CNN’s coverage. She was known across our bureaus not only for her political savvy but also for her unwavering kindness. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn such an extraordinary loss."
